For any Runners out there please read this excellent article Alphabiotics: A Wonderful Benefit for Runners Alphabiotics is a new process designed to rapidly reduce the impact of long term stress held in the body. Runners often encounter forms of physical discomfort which despite efficient treatments never seem to fully resolve themselves. From an Alphabiotic perspective there is a rationale as to why this occurs and an effective solution. The world we live in is experienced as very stressful and many strategies are applied or practiced to deal with this. From an Alphabiotic view there are two types of Stress: Simple (High Level) Stress and Complex Stress. The human body and mind are designed to deal with Simple Stress as it has a beginning, middle and end. A typical example is crossing a busy road and avoiding an oncoming vehicle. A reaction in the Brain called the ‘Fight or Flight Response’ is activated and saves us from an impending danger. What happens is the Brain suppresses one of its two hemispheres and over stimulates the other thus averting a tragedy. Once danger has passed the suppressed hemisphere is freed up and balance is restored to the Body. Alphabiotics addresses the other type of stress called Complex Stress. This form of stress has evolved very recently over the last 60 years. Whilst this may appear a long time it is very short compared to the many thousands of years Human Beings have been evolving on this planet. Complex Stress comes in many forms such as unfamiliar pulsations (vibrations) that emanate from appliances such as Computers, Mobiles, TVs, Game Consoles and in addition the often all too familiar persistent personal concerns that gnaw away in our thoughts. These variants have a particular vibration that is not fully recognised by the Brain and so an assumption is made that there is a danger present when in fact this is not the case at all. What happens with Complex stress is that the ‘Fight or Flight’ is stimulated without conscious awareness and the body becomes unbalanced as the brain functions from a place of ‘survival’ solely operating from either the left or right hemisphere. Complex Stress levels keep increasing and have caused most people to go out of physical balance from the age five years for some it starts even younger! For Runners this is a key reason why certain discomforts persist. 2 Why is this? The Brain has one priority in Life which is to maintain balance in the Body and the major source of physical balance is through co-ordination of the nervous system. When the ‘Fight or Flight’ is activated there is an overriding of this to allow for an immediate dealing of a crisis. The problem with complex stress is that there is no crisis, however a part of the Brain thinks that there is and then the Brain becomes locked into ‘Fight or Flight’ on a near permanent basis. Over time the nervous system becomes imbalanced resulting in a weakening of some groups of muscles on one side of the body and over tensing on the other side. The skeletal frame goes out of balance resulting in a shortening of one leg due to a pull up in the Hips adversely affecting the spinal column by the imbalance of muscle groupings. Why this is relevant for Runners For a majority of people there is about a 3cm leg length difference and this is not good news. Dr C H Suh at the University of Colorado proved that when there is as little as a 1.5cm Hip pull up this causes 3 major stress areas in the Spine. Now, if a person was to stand on two separate bathroom scales there would be approximately a 5 - 10kg weight difference. Consider the impact of this: If you are a person walking for one hour at a rate of 100 paces per minute this would result in straining the weaker side of the body by as much as 3,000 - 6,000 kg / hour!! When one considers how a fit runner would be running in excess of 150 - 300 paces per minute the strain becomes enormous. The Human Body by design can withstand such high stress for a while, however it is inevitable that something will eventually breakdown. If you are a regular Runner you may already be experiencing some persistent forms of discomfort long after the end of your practice such as dull back pain, aching in the hip, shoulder, knee or ankle weakness. These are often a consequence of the aforementioned stresses upon the body. The good news is that there is a simple quick and effective solution which is the Alphabiotic Alignment. Received on a regular basis this helps the body to stay in balance and to avoid the Hip Pull mentioned earlier. Thus the runner is now in a favourable position of not only Running long distances regularly, but also with minimal physical harm, resulting in greater benefits and improved performance.
