For anyone whose blood boiled when they saw latest BT advert.... Mine certainly did, as I walked into room where assumed partner was watching a documentary... How dare Cameron and his envoy Gordon Brown use socialist history to persuade decent people to vote No? I twigged it was campaign ad.... then not sure whose... then saw Gordon Brown and went into tailspin. Partner didnt really understand, but left in a hurry... This is only thing that calmed me down (eventually...) We have internationalism on our side. Track is from I have no cannons that roar - released 1997 in memory of Irfan Ljubijankic 9former foreign minister of Bosnia) who died towards end of war in 1995 when the helicopter he was flying in shot down by a Serb rocket. Hed been visiting his home town of Bihac - at that time on front line. A few months earlier he visited had been in London on diplomatic mission when met Yusuf Islam (formerly Cat Stevens) to whom he gave cassette of song he had written. This was title track of album he inspired. The album version (on youtube) includes intro by Sejfudin Hodzic - himself a very interesting figure (background in independence struggle, music, banking, politics and 2014 presidential candidate in BiH). Now an adviser for Lloyds, but not lost his politics. Aziz Alili is singer/song-writer; Bosnian lyrics by Dzemaludin Latic. Recorded in Stuttgart (1995 Bosna Studio).... youtube/watch?v=du2yLKfbmeg GDJE SU MEKA I MEDINA- AZIZ ALILI Appreciate lyrics in Bosnian, but this is NOT a terrorist song.... Is another video which is better, but sound a bit rough. Video courtesy Sejfudin Hodzic (SOAS graduate). Long. long history of oppression, as anyone who watched The Ottomans will know. Puts a few eggs thrown in context!! This is what independence means/has meant to some.....
