For everyone who is so concerned regarding the making and enforcing of laws regarding personal identification should better be thinking about getting a passport...and good luck with that. My husband went to DMV today, to have his drivers license renewed and he had to take his birth certificate because his passport had expired. Yes...birth certificates or other IDs are now required for license renewal. Now, years ago when he got his passport, he had to show his birth certificate, which was actually the original, from the state of Florida. He was told that the original was not valid...he had to have a new copy sent to him. $30 later we got a copy of the original and he was able to get the passport. Now, today, he took the copy of the birth certificate, which was used to obtain the passport, and presented it to the DMV clerk, who said it was not a legal document......and that he needed his original. He drove home and found the original (thank goodness we still had it), and took it back to them and they said, Great! But it would have been a lot easier if you had had a passport. So which is the bigger threat...immigration or terrorist ....no......it will probably be driving without a license. Be afraid, be very afraid!
