For the love of humanity. Mourn the man but lets not elevate Gough Whitlam to sainthood. He was the most incompetent PM in living history. Many businesses folded under his term as well as many losing their jobs. High inflation, dodgy loans. Lets not forget the Khemlani loans affair. Nor should we forget Gough making a deal with Saddam Hussein where in return for donations to the Labor party the Whitlam government would implement favourable Arab foreign policy. If he would have stayed longer, we would never have recovered. As it stands we are still paying for Whitlams failed policies. The ABC is acting exactly like a government owned station you see in places like China when their leader dies. All propaganda and nil facts. Gough Whitlam was an economic incompetent who nearly destroyed Australia permanently. Take off your rose coloured glasses and stop rewriting history. Many lost their livelihoods during his term and he destroyed education standards. If he was so good, why did he get sacked? And if he was really loved and was doing well for the country, why did the people vote against him in a landslide at the election held after his sacking. Lets say it like it is. RIP
