For those of you not participating in the Birdie Bash I am - TopicsExpress

For those of you not participating in the Birdie Bash I am organizing another workday out at LKJ next Saturday April 5th. I hate to schedule it when there is a tournament, but that is the only Saturday I have available for the next 3 months. I recently joined the Rotarians of South Asheville, which is a service group for those of you that are unaware of the countless things they get involved with. I spearheaded this service day at one of our last meetings and they are onboard in a big way. (These are the folks that planted the trees around the pavilion out there) I was hoping to see quite a few folks from the WNCDGC come out and lend a hand and teach some of these shirt and tie wearing professionals about the sport of disc golf. It seems most of them have only experienced ball golf and riding around on a golf cart. Any and all help would be much appreciated and I am going into my really busy season with my business and will probably not be heard from again until Mountain Sports which is my wifes 40th birthday and I may have to gracefully take a year off although I am still hoping to play. Tasks to be completed: 1. We will be building a bridge out of locust on hole #5 and the logs are already in the culvert. It would be great to have a couple of folks with charged cordless drills out there to pre-drill and set some screws in the deck boards. 2. Johnny T has offered up his skid steer once again and there are 4-5 more piles of wood chips to be spread on hole #2 as well as widen the fairway on #1 a little. These are the last loads I will dump on this part of the course for a while and I could then turn my attention to other parts of the course that need some chips. 3. There is quite a bit of existing debris out there along various fairways and it would be great if some folks could stack it in some well organized piles with all of the butt ends facing out to make it easier to chip at a later date. This will really help to clean up the course and make it easier for those of you that have a hard time keeping your discs in the fairways. 4. I would like to remove the bench along Hendersonville Road and reinstall it somewhere else on the course and also build two more additional benches and I will be donating all of the materials for these minus the concrete and I think 8 bags should do it. *I am working on getting a local restaurant to donate lunch for everyone involved. Workday will start @ 9:00 am sharp and run until about 2 pm with a leisurely round to follow. Maybe we can turn our efforts into nine more holes out there next winter. Cheers!
