For those of you that I have not yet spoken with, we have come to a pretty large snag in our road to preschool. Because our building was built in the 1940s, it is obviously not compliant with all of the current Indiana building codes. We have hired and been working with an excellent professional design engineer, but on Friday, he had to unfortunately deliver me some bad news. Through this, we have been hoping our building would fall under Chapter 34, which is a point-value system of sorts that grandfathers older buildings to compliance. We now know that as it currently stands, this is most likely not going to be an option. Although we have poured our hearts and souls into having this building prepared perfectly, additional professional work is going to need to be completed before Room to Bloom can operate. As a estimated time frame, we are facing another 4-6 weeks before opening. I am heartbroken by this, as we have worked so hard to have everything ready by Sept., but the silver lining is that once this process is over, we will have a safe, clean, sparkly facility for our kiddos. I am now asking for thoughts and prayers that we can have patience and perseverance through this process, and that it can be completed quickly and smoothly. We have been so incredibly blessed thus far with an outpouring of love and support by so many of you, and I hope that as we trudge through these difficulties, we can continue with persistence and come out that much stronger.
