For years, I have felt isolated and frequently unable to figure out what was going on around me simply because my hearing has deteriorated. This has been a huge issue in small groups, because any soft voices were simply not in my hearing range. Several years ago, I had to stop my work as a counselor and clinical hypnotherapist because I could not hear clients responses; and I quit singing because I was never sure I was on key. I was only hearing portions of the classical music I used to love -- the rest sounded discordant and ugly to me. I kept thinking my hearing might be deteriorating because of a food allergy, or related to a lack of B12, so if I just dealt with those issues, my hearing would improve. It didnt. Today, Chris Carman of NexGen Hearing at Port Place Mall, did a final fitting of hearing aids which have changed my life! Study group is a joy again, and I sang Grace, on key, with my husband, at our A.R.E. Retreat two weeks ago. I did a hypnotherapy session this week and heard every word. By the way, I had no idea that all the twittering at our bird feeders is so boisterous -- Life is good and I am very happy!
