Found out just today that Dan Adams, who was a counselor at LSC sometime during the mid-late 1970s, died back in November. His wifes name is Joy. Below is a copy of his online obituary: Daniel Keith Adams was the son of Carl and Miriam (nee Hunn) Adams, born April 5, 1952 in Wabash, Indiana. Dan lived an adventurous childhood with his five brothers and sister. Their childhood stories have been retold countless times to the next generation of the Adams family. Dan graduated from T-M High School class of 70 in Trotwood, Ohio, where he ran track and played on the football team. He earned his Bachelors Degree in education at Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, class of 74. He was a scholarship cross country runner, and running continued to be a passion of his throughout his lifetime. He later returned to his high school alma mater to teach science and coach track and cross country for several years. He married his high school sweetheart, Joy Erbaugh, on June 17, 1972 in Dayton, Ohio, where they lived most of their life together. They also transitioned back and forth to Port Charlotte, Florida, where Dan worked with his parents in their construction business. Dan and Joy began a family in 1977 with the birth of their first child, Matthew. Three more children, Kara, Jonathan, and Kelsey, joined the family over the next several years. Dan was a loving and fun dad and has left his children with many precious memories. In 1978, Dan and his brother, Joel, started Adams Bros. Cabinetry in Dayton, which then moved to Port Charlotte, Florida. Several years later, Dan moved his family back to Ohio, where he owned and operated Adams Bros. Construction. He faithfully attended his church, Bear Creek Church of the Brethren, where he served as a youth leader and deacon and enjoyed playing his guitar and singing. Dan always had a heart for missions. He longed to share the good news of Jesus with those who did not know Him, and to serve those people through his gift of craftsmanship. He traveled for construction mission trips to Roma, Texas; Uruguay; and later, with his church, First Alliance of Port Charlotte, to Gabon, Africa. He built homes in Tijuana, Mexico in partnership with Bittersweet Ministries. He served with his family for two years in Warm Springs, Virginia, at Three Hills Inn, to serve pastors and church leaders. Dan and his family returned to Port Charlotte, Florida, in 1996 to rejoin his brother, Joel, in business at Adams Bros. Cabinetry. Dan served as Vice President until his retirement in June 2008. Dan led his employees through his example of hard work and integrity. He mentored the next generation of leadership in what is now Adams Group, including his children and nephews. He was passionate about people and saw potential in each one, always encouraging them to go above and beyond what they thought possible. Dan was served so faithfully by his wife of 41 years, who tenderly cared for him throughout his illness. Dan was ushered into heaven November 23, 2013 at the age of 61, with his wife and family by his side. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Joy; moms, Miriam Adams, Katherine Erbaugh; children, Matthew (Tara) Adams, Kara (Curt) Bennett, Jonathan (Rebecca) Adams, Kelsey (Alan) Veitengruber; siblings, Susan Adams, Tim (Lois) Adams, John (Sue) Adams, Joel (Ann) Adams, Mark Adams, and sister-in-law, Pam Adams; grandchildren, Anna Adams, Aleah Adams, Colby Bennett, Adriene Adams, Carson Bennett, Reagan Adams, Addison Adams, Kaci Bennett, Rileigh Adams, and a little one on the way; and many nieces and nephews.
