Francises Lassonde came to New France ( Quebec, Canada) on the 7th day of December 1812 as a French soldier. He came from a ton called Maza, France. Francises Lassonde was in the French army for 20 years. He served under Captain LaSalle when he came to Ne France. After he as done with the army in New France (Quebec) in 1813, he went to work with the Columbia Fur Company. In 1815, he worked with the Northwest fur Company. Hile with the Columbia Fur Company in 1813, he came near Lake Winnipeg on the western shore of Red River of the North. In the winter of 1813-1814, he and his men almost starved to death. In the spring of 1814, they went to Pembina in the Minnesota Territory (As the Dakota Territory was only created on March 2, 1861 by the bill signed by President James Buchanan) After Francises Lassonde and his men got well at Pembina in the Minnesota Territory in June 20, 1814, they came back to the New France. In August 1814 Francises Lassonde married Louise Meller at St.Jean, Quebec. In the spring of 1815, Francises and his wife, Louise and his men went back near Lake Winnipeg on the same western shore of he Red River of the North. They worked for the Northwest Fur Company. They stayed there until Louise ( Meller) Lassonde had to return to Quebec for her health 1818. Francies and Louise (Meller) Lassonde moved to Rockton Pond, Quebec. They raised their family of 13 children (9 sons and 4 Daughters) at Rockton Pond, Quebec. Their children are the follows; 1. Joseph Lassonde ( Born 1820 ) * 2. Perre Lassonde 3. Roland Lassonde 4. Joseph Lassonde married Ellen (Poirrer) (Daughter of Benj Poirrer and Aldene (Machale) Poirrer. At Rockton Pond, Quebec. * Joseph Lassonde died in Chicago in 1897. Ellen (Poirrer) Lassonde died in 1901. * Joseph Lassonde and his wife Ellen had 13 children (8 sons and 5 Daughters) Their children as follows; 1. Baker Silas Lassonde * 2. Canada * Baker Silas Lassonde (1866 – 1941) Was born at Rockton Pond, Quebec. The son of Joseph and Ellen (Poirrer) Lassonde. Baker Silas Lassonde married Dora Guedesse (1869 – 1950). Dora daughter of Jean Baptiste Guedese and Louise (Allard) Guedesse on Mach 4th 1889 t Iberville, Quebec, Canada. They had 4 children all sons. 1. Willy Silas Lassonde born June 20th 1891, died Aug 4th 1891 2. William B. Lassonde Born July 9th 1893, died July 30th 1893 3. John Baptiste Lassonde born Nov 3rd 1894 died Feb. 1st 1965 * 4. Walter Joe Lassonde born on July 10th 1905 died Dec. 14th 1935 Willy and William Lassonde died from Black Measles common early day baby sickness in the late 1880s. Both babies re buried on the Guedesse farm in Fairview Township. (On top of the hill, they both have grave makers on the graves. John Baptiste and alter Joe Lassonde are buried at Rolla, North Dakota Cemetery. Walter Joe Lassonde (1905- 1935), son of Baker Silas and Dora (Guedesse) Lassonde married Louise Johnson in 1924, Walter Joe Lassonde Farmed for three years North of St.John,North Dakota, four years near Thorne, North Dakota. 1933 they moved to Towner,North Dakota where he and his brother-in law operated the flower mill,John Deere Implement and Doge Automobile Business. He also retained ownership of the Marigold Theater and Dance Hall in Saint John,North Dakota.Walter Joe Lassonde and Louise (Johnson) Lassonde had 3 daughters. Their children as follows; 1. Pearl Marie ( Mrs. Jim Alspach ) Lassonde at Port Orchard, Washington 2. Joyce Eleanor ( Mrs. Carl ) Lassonde at Seattle, Washington 3. Louise Ann ( Mrs. Donald Day ) at Renton, Washington After Walter Joe Lassonde died, the family moved to Seattle, Washington John Baptiste Lassonde, son of Baker and Dora (Guedesse) Lassonde was born November 3rd 1894 at Saint John, North Dakota. John Baptiste Lassonde married Vera Cook (From Bannerman, Manitoba) At Rolla, North Dakota in November 1917. They farmed North of Saint John in Baxter Township. They lived in Saint John North Dakota on the west side of town on lot 3# in block 2 in the Martineau addition of Saint John, North Dakota. They also run Dace Hall and the Marigold Theatre t Saint John, North Dakota. 1917 – 1919 they went to Bannerman, Manitoba to run Vera’s mothers hotel and bar in Bannerman, Manitoba Canada. They had one daughter,June Lassonde born 1920. John Baptiste Lassonde and Vera (Cook) were divorced at Rolla, North Dakota in November 1919. On January 1921 John Baptiste Lassonde married Amanda *Dollie* (Babcock) daughter of Frederick S. Babcock and Melinda* Minnie Mae* (Wilcox) John and Amanda *Dollie* Lassonde had 5 children. Children of John and Amanda * Dollie* (Babcock) Lassonde as follows; 1. Emma Mae Lassonde born August 1st 1922 (Mrs. Emil Lagasse) 2. Walter John Lassonde * Buffy* born January 28th 1925 3. Doris Lassonde born June 18th 1931 Died Sept. 21st 1964 (Mrs. Robert Gross) 4. Fred Rene Lassonde born May 9th 1933, died May 29th 2012 5. James Baker Lassonde born May 1st 1935 died August 25th 2012 They farmed North of Saint John in Baxter Township. They farmed a total of of 1560 acres of land with 2 Model 1832 Case tractors , a small 1927 Ford tractor and 2 sets of horses from 1921 to 1938. They also ran Marigold Theater and Dance Hall in Saint John, North Dakota. They also ran the Roller Skate at Lake Upsilon, at the border of Canada and USA from 1936- 1937. In the spring of 1939 John Babtiste and Amanda * Dollie * Lassonde were divorced John Lassonde kept farming on 680 acres of land in Baxter Township, 476 acres of land in Fairview Township, total acres 1156 from 1939 – 1947. John retired and rented his land to his three sons,Walter,Fred and James Lassonde. After renting his land to his sons, he moved to Saint John, North Dakota in 1947. John ran Saint John Pool Hall from 1947 till his death in 1965 Feb 1st. John Baptiste Lassonde is buried at the Rolla, North Dakota cemetery with his parents Baker Silas and Dora (Guedesse) Lassonde, brother Walter Joe Lassonde, by his Grandparents Jean Baptiste Guedesses by John and Charles Guedesse (His Uncles) and by his grandson, Joseph Lassonde who is buried between Baker Silas and Dora (Guedesse) Lassonde. They all have grave stones except Joseph Lassonde who died in 1953. Walter John *Buffy* Lassonde Son of John Baptiste and Amanda *Dollie* (Babcock) Lassonde. He never married. He farmed with his father John Lassonde until his father’s retirement in 1947. Walters brother Fred Rene Lassonde continued farming along with him. Fred Rene Lassonde , 80, Rolla, died Tuesday, May 29, 2012, in a Bismarck hospital. He was born May 9, 1932, to John and Dolly Lassonde, in Rolette County. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He married Iris Olson on Nov. 29, 1952. They later divorced. He married Charlotte Sivertson on July 16, 1994, in Rolla. Survivors: wife; sons, Fred Lassonde, of St. John, Martin Lassonde, Fort Washington, Md., Mark Lassonde, Rolla, Cory Guderjahn, Mansfield, Ohio, Milton Ward and James Ward; daughters, Fern Midstokke, Grand Forks, Tammy Lassonde, of St. John, and Cindy Le Blanc, Grand Forks, and Stella Tatro; 23 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and brother, James, Rolette. Brother James Baker Lassonde quit farming and moved to Mauston, Wisconsin where his mother Amanda *Dollie* (Babcock) lived with her 2nd husband Stanley Prouty. James Baker Lassonde put his mathematician skills to work when he started at Toolrite Manufacturing Company as a machinist in Milwaukee Wisconsin.In Milwaukee is where he met and Married Charmaine (Popelier) Lassonde, daughter of Leo Popelier and Nora (Schwertfeger) Popelier. James B Lassonde and Charmaine (Popelier) Lassonde moved to Mauston, Wisconsin where James started his own Machine Tool and Die Corporation. James Baker and Charmaine (Popelier) Lassonde had one son, Fred Walter Lassonde born March 18th 1974. James Baker Lassonde born May 1st 1935, died August 25th 2012 and is now buried next to his 2 brothers and 1 sister, Fred René, Walter *Buffy* and sister Doris Lassonde (Mrs. Robert Gross).
