Friday. Spring. Rain. And the promise of puddles. Instead of grumbling that it will rain, I recall my child self and the joy of splashing in puddles. Here is your poem by Bobby Coles for a rainy Friday. Go jump in a puddle! Race outside and bound through for a quick splash Moments like these disappear in a timely flash Whether or not the sun is shining or rain is falling Puddles, like a beacon, are always calling Life is far too short to avoid puddle jumping Helps to get your heart pumping Puddles have an alluring charm, beguile you with their tranquility Sashay towards them for a splash; jump in if youve the agility Dampness in the air all around, an ominous cloud lingers above Young and old alike can enjoy, puddles and fun go together like a hand and glove Search through them for a rainbow; at least adore its magnificent reflection Marvel at their regal serenity; become infused by their happy infection Another downpour crashed down, left the landscape swimming While some cast downtrodden eyes, a childs boundless enthusiasm was brimming You cannot reap the beautiful reward of a rainbow, without first enduring the rain Matters of perspective run deep, try not to be the weakest link in any chain Weather impacts some people negatively; others take the time to rejoice Whichever way you tend to lean, is all a matter of making a personal choice The clouds empty their contents; blanket us with a coat of water Hopes for a sunny day at the beach, have gone off to slaughter Different fun now waits, in puddles there is pleasure Sometimes a quiet rainfall, gives us an unexpected treasure Skip on through, or stomp if you must, but certainly do not avoid a puddles bait Take the second to traipse on in there; your other plans can surely wait Delicate droplets of rain, calmly embracing the earth Caressing all the tiny seedlings, encouraging rejuvenation and rebirth They hold tightly knit together, in what appears to be friendly cuddles Unable to resist frolicking through them, the warmth of welcoming puddles A joy to behold whenever they come, they are but a matter of perspective They are a blessing in disguise, positive attitudes are elective Summer sunshine freely dances, upon your welcoming shoulder A daily replenishing of sorts, another day passes and time gets older Despite all of your valiant efforts, the ever-present winds of life prevail Adapting and overcoming is second nature, you have learned to reset your sail Your reflection slowly begins to ripple, as another drop gently descends The best things in life are free, and meant to be shared with family and friends Skipping moments in time is unwise; make your hay while the sun shines The great outdoors beckon you; puddles are one of the signs Ebbing the tides and surfing the waves, trees and their branches shimmering The moonlight serenades us all, with its constant beautiful glimmering Everything occurs, as it rightfully should, underneath the pale moon light Seemingly, unbiased things take shape, not bothering to question wrong or right So take that extra little bit of time, do it right now instead of after Jump in those puddles with your children, become ensconced in their laughter Night-time quiets your neighbourhoods; all sorts of people all dreamily off to sleep Tomorrow there will still be mountains to climb, but perhaps they will not seem quite as steep Puddles have such a short lifespan; you must embrace them while they last For when the final bell tolls for thee, you will regret all of those puddles that you passed.
