Friends, when I moved to Augusta, Georgia a little under two years ago, I never truly knew why I wanted to be a journalist. My entire life has been about helping others who might not be able to help themselves, and I quickly realized, helping others was the reason why I was here. Terrified and scared of failure, you allowed me into your homes, flaws and all, and accepted me for who I was and what I was trying to accomplish. I always was out with a smile and making folks laugh...because you werent just a viewer, you were my friend, a part of my family. Each and every day, each one of you trusted me to tell a story, that would ultimately, impact someones life. Its because of you, the viewer, my friends, that I succeeded in the way that I did. Its because of you that I continue to tell stories, create change and hopefully change the world into a better place.Its because of you that Ive decided to continue in this career, to challenge myself to even bigger heights. I am sad to leave this place Ive called home for two years, but I am beyond excited for the adventures that await me at my next news station. Ill be moving a few states away, Michigan to be exact, BUT each and every one of you will be right there with me, as I try to conquer new heights and impact many more lives. Each of you will be near my heart, a reminder of just how loving and embracing, a community really is. October 27th will be my last day gracing the News 12 airwaves...but dont worry or fret. It wont be the last time you guys and gals see me. Ill always be around, just a few hours away. Who knows, one day Ill get to see you again. Im one Facebook message, one phone call, and one thought away. Each of you have shaped the character Ill take with me on my way up North. Ive realized, it wasnt just me impacting your lives, but youve impacted my life beyond words. In ending, my spot on News 12 might be replaced, and new folks will soon come along to fill it. But I ask only this, embrace them as youve embraced me, love them as youve loved me, encourage them as youve encouraged me, and help them as youve helped me. This isnt a goodbye forever, but a see you later.
