From Pastor Steve. I am Barabbas. As was tradition, the Roman Governor, Pontius Pilate, released a Jewish prisoner as a knod to the Passover celebration. He wrongly assumed that they would choose the release of Jesus over the release of a murderer named Barabbas. The crowd, having been stirred up by the temple agitators, began to shout Give us Barabbas. Barabbas was given his freedom and an innocent man was sent to the cross to die. Where have I heard that before? A guilty man deserving punishment is freed while Jesus is forced to pay the price and receive the punishment. Its my story.. Its your story. Its the story of all of us that have received the grace to go free as our Savior hung on the cross. This weekend, remember that no one took Jesus life. He gave himself up to die for the wicked. Matthew 27:50 says Then Jesus shouted out again, and he released his spirit. Jesus gave his life freely so that we prisoners of sin could go free. Choose to do something with Jesus this year! Live a life of freedom and liberty!
