From a member: *anonymous* please? My PTSD former military man Is big Into virtual reality video games .. sometimes I think they can do more GOOD for him .. help him spend his aggression, work out frustrations .. But lately Its also seemed his game playing has triggered some nightmares .. especially of a paranoid nature like the feds are out to get him cuz he n his buddy just killed a bunch of ppl In self defense and he cant explain himself to the authorities or they dont believe him, etc. So far he Is able to distinguish between dreams and reality tho he doesnt realize always the pattern of playing a game the night b4 the dreams .. he also suffers night spasms (upper right quadrant of his torso and sometimes his legs with restless leg type activity) and I dont know how to help or If trying to reason Is enuf? or If the realistic first person shooter games really DO offer more good than harm .. I dont fear him hurting me .. hes more apt to dissociate like hes rescuing me from some threat .. but I want to help prevent as much of the night terrors or night seizures as much as possible .. kInda at a loss? thoughts? suggestions? (No active counseling at present and no medical Insurance)
