From the McCullough heart Todays sermon covered Luke 10 to such - TopicsExpress

From the McCullough heart Todays sermon covered Luke 10 to such an extent that I was moved to post just a few of its points of importance to me before it had a chance to fade in my memory. Luke 10 speaks of evangelism. Calvin N Claudia McCullough Sr. had recently had a discussion regarding mission trips and my reluctance to say, yes Honey, sign us up right away!!! See, Im from the school of the 5 star hotel...though not biblical...its pretty true of my disposition. However, Calvin is wired quite differently. Which makes us a pretty good team. I am blessed in that hes as eager as I am to search scripture as we are both determined to find ourselves there. The McCullough head was right, and if he says we go...we go...(goodbye resort and spa)... We both believe in following the instructions God has outlined for us in His Word. Ill try not to be too long winded. So, Ill start with just the first couple of verses in Luke 10.Heres the Word, Luke 10:1-3: After these things the Lord appointed seventy others also,[a] and sent them two by two before His face into every city and place where He Himself was about to go. 2 Then He said to them, “The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest. 3 Go your way; behold, I send you out as lambs among wolves. Heres some points to take with you. 1. Evangelism is at its best when youre with like minded individuals. If you have the opportunity while you are alone to share the gospel, then by all means share the gospel! However, there is support, accountability, and confidence when two or three more are on the same page. 2. The harvest being spoken of, is people! Not agriculture! There are those who are ready and willing to accept the Good News but the laborers (those who are willing to work for the Lord) are in scarce supply. Not only must we pray for laborers but we must also be willing to labor ourselves! The pastor made a very good point in mentioning that sometimes we find ourselves being a part of the very thing were praying for. So equip yourselves, and be ready! 3. Finally, (at least for now, smile) BE READY FOR TROUBLE!!! Its a wonderful notion to believe that if you are working for the Lord, your life will know little trouble and everyone you meet will ADORE you! Its not true. Though there are consequences for those who may want to cause you harm, consequences may not be enough to deter them. Nearly every person called to work for the Lord endured hardness....Noah, Ruth, Moses, Jeremiah, Hosea, David, Elijah, Peter, Paul, and the list goes on and on...so why would we believe we are exceptions??? Scripture tells us that Jesus said the world would HATE us because it hated him first. (John 15:18) Jesus also went on to say that if you were of the world the world would NOT hate its own. So count it all joy when you are left out, shunned, looked over, or not promoted if the agenda is not Christian...its all good! The Word tells us that evangelism will be our sharing the good news with others in the world, it may not be a pleasant experience, but its an instrumental, crucial, and important part of your witness...sharing the truth of the Gospel!!! Have a beautifully blessed week...more later — feeling happy. By: Claudia McCullough
