From the Pastors Pen September 28, 2014 “God has chosen the foolish things of this world to confound the wisdom of the wise…” While on one hand, that statement seems strange, even negative, within its bounds lies the answer to the maddening situation that has a strangle hold on the throat of the world. Do you see it? Most don’t, because it runs on opposing lines against the prevailing trust of a people risking everything to science and technology. Using Air Power, we’re told that we can contain and degrade the forces of terror that gleefully cuts off the heads of our citizens. Government, thinking itself to be wise and ever so powerful, promises to defeat poverty, eliminate ignorance, wipe out diseases, and guarantee a life of relative ease for all its citizens...even if we now have to pay mercenaries to defend because we’re too weak to do it ourselves. After all, a big brother, without thought of its own political interests, can fix whatever is wrong, can’t he? How do you think we’re doing on that line right now? No! The power to change the world does not rest in the hand of politicians or judges, and certainly not in Hollywood moguls who export the sheer decadence of our land, begotten from corrupted hearts,...No! The power to transform the world into the Kingdom of God rests entirely in the hands of God’s redeemed people who are both transformed and transforming. That is what is meant by “God hath chosen the foolish things of this world to confound the wisdom of the wise!” God’s people deeply committed not to the love of power, but to the power of love, are sent into the back alleys of wickedness to turn on light and to stop corruption as does salt. That’s us! That’s God’s way! Let’s roll!
