GMC Cadillac ELR Hybrid car for 2014 ! Wow!!! The Right is Angry because this car is not completely all Gas Guzzler!! Angry Too: The Left, because TV ad shows a successful, loaded, wealthy actor living in high income paradise, talking about values of hard work, wealth, taking only 2 weeks off in August, climbing the corporate ladder, making amazing new products, WOW WOW! Everyone is amazed, everyone wants one, everyone is glad GMC Cadillac is manufacturing brand new high tech cars that are the best in the World!! Wow wow wow! The ELR page on GM Cadillac website doesnt mention MPG, but it does mention electric fuel. Also, there is mention of a gasoline tank that holds 9.5 gallons. So I looked a bit further. In the tiniest print available on the Internet, I found this statement: EPA-estimated 37-mile all-electric range based on 82 MPGe (electric); 31 MPG city/35 highway (gas). Actual mileage may vary. So, if you dont drive more than 37 miles per day, you can be all-electric and get 82 MPG equivalent. But if you go over that, you end up getting 31 mpg. I would have to say that most likely, 20 mpg is more likely. Meanwhile, GMC Cadillac is completely ignoring their best technology, which was shown as a concept car, and won first place, in the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show. (GM Cadillac Aera, air motor vehicle with 4 in-wheel rotary Wankel air motors, carbon fiber composite structural components and body panels (all carbon fiber composite) 1000 mile range per fill up of the 10,000 psi air pressure tank.) This is now doable thanx to carbon fiber air pressue tanks. People have objected that this is no good because you have to pressurize the air. However, if you use a gasoline engine you have to prepare the gasoline first, and so that is not a fair or reasonable objection to using air motors (understatement)!!!!han most people cannot produce their own gasoline, even a 6 year old child can pump up his/her own bicycle tires, and that is the only thing you need to be able to do, though at very high pressures for longer range, to power a full size car or SUV made with new lightweight carbon fiber composites. To repeat myself: All you need to do, to power this type of vehicle, is to be able to pump up your bicycle tires, there is no higher technology than this, needed for everyday use of the Cadillac Aera concept car or any similar air motor vehicles. And:: ZERO maintenance, ZERO fuel, ZERO recharging, ZERO ZERO ZERO.
