GOVERNMENT WASTE could have helped vets! Sadly, some Modern-Day - TopicsExpress

GOVERNMENT WASTE could have helped vets! Sadly, some Modern-Day Veterans need help with funeral expenses. This has been our quest for over a decade, yet governments seem reluctant to act on such a low cost action offering much political gain. Any of the recent government missteps would have fully funded this small financial change to the Veterans Burial regulations. Recent and forthcoming Veterans Ombudsman’s reports on care of Veterans speak much of government inaction. The Royal Canadian Legion has often urged governments to change burial regulations so that Modern Day Veterans are treated the same as their WW2 and Korean War counterparts. Still no action. I contend that even the misspent funds in the claims of senators would redress a large percentage of financial concerns. Further the waste of funds in obtaining the elusive Joint Support ships would certainly have supported impoverished Modern-Day Veterans for the lifetime of the Funeral & Burial Program. The wasted monies on the cancellation of the EH101 contract, and following expenses including the requisite refurbishment and maintenance of the aged Sea Kings, the contract cancellation penalties, the purchase of EH101 helicopters for Search and Rescue, and the recent contract to replace the Sea Kings would have funded such needed changes. This waste is estimated at more than $5 billion Canadian dollars. As monies have been wasted away, charity and generosity to address the cause of indigent Modern-Day Veterans will continue to be needed. Your financial and political support are needed.
