GSUSA has petitioned congress to reverse its pension regulations. ( see forwarded message next) Make sure that our senators and congressional representatives are getting the full story : - In spring 2011, the GSNEO board presented a plan to sell 5 camps- justifying the plan with flawed and inaccurate information. - At that time, the GSNEO board chair refused to allow a motion calling for re-evaluation of the board’s property plan. - At the 2011 GSNEO annual meeting, the General Assembly voted to require Assembly approval before any properties were sold. - The GSNEO board and administration refused - and continues to refuse- to abide by this vote. - At the 2012 annual meeting, the board refused to allow three qualified candidates to be nominated from the floor. - GSNEO claims to be democratically governed. If GSUSA wishes congress to provide relief, congress should require that GSUSA ensure that its franchisees ( the councils) are abiding by the wishes of their members in keeping with the democratic process. The future of Girl Scouting in Ohio depends on administration working FOR its members – not against them. Ohio was two senators: Sherrod Brown brown.senate.gov/contact/ and Rob Portman https://portman.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/contact-form There are different districts within our 18 county council. If you aren’t sure who your representative is, you can check out this website and enter your zip code house.gov/representatives/find/ Politicians take letters from their constituents very seriously.
