Girl Rising by Academy Award-nominated director, Richard E Robbins. Caught the test-screening of this at The Arts House last week and its such a powerful film on the importance of educating girls. Each girl is paired with a renowned writer from her native country, who gives voice to her story. These stories are then voiced by Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Liam Neeson, Cate Blanchette etc. One of the writers of this project is Loung Ung, a Cambodian-American author who also wrote the bestseller, First They Killed My Father. Ill be chatting with Loung and Dr Mukesh Kapila (Against A Tide of Evil) today at 5.30pm on Breaking Silence Through Words. Girl Rising will be screened prior to that at 3pm. Limited spaces!
