Give me Liberty or give me Death, To deny the latter such saccharine honey I cherish with every labored breath, Drooping eyelids and a satiated appetite testimony my conformity, The spectacle of explosive gunpowder and sky scraping vibrant color palettes cementing our uniformity, Yet what is freedom, its allure, its adhesive? What drives us to celebrate its enamoring defiance towards the tyrannical and submissive? Perhaps its the encompassing nature of humanity which takes shape as a beast, Where we cradle and nurture the well off but also those who are last but not least? Or perhaps it is that all but forgotten privilege to let the meek inherit, And then, when their faults surface naturally, the strong willed clasp the reigns as long as they are of merit, Of these things, I have no discernible answer and or scrawl etched in stone, Only my resolve to repay the sacrifice in which my freedom is in loan, So for those of you who chastise and admonish the red white and blue stained at heart, I implore you to appreciate the patriotism of your colorful counterpart, Because of them instead of indulging in hot dogs I choose the superior 4th of July taco, A meal in which I wash down with a margarita alongside mi hermano.
