Giving –It is what all Charities depend on and what most people never want to hear about –the asking for money. It is any Charity’s biggest challenge. The finding of creative ways to ask for what is needed without folks thinking we are asking for money. I do take comfort in knowing that PWP is unique in that, none of the money we ask for is to pay any Canadian since we ALL work in a volunteer capacity and that ALL money we ask for is to be used in support of our programming in Haiti. However, the job of “asking” remains and the “giving” as illusive as ever. I offer the following video clip –one in a series on “giving” as a possible clarification on why “giving” is to be more than just a spur of the moment guilt trip. The meat of the message is after a lengthy (and funny) pre-ramble, and was very timely for me as I continue to try and figure out the dance steps of how to ask for what is needed to fund PWP programs in Haiti while not offending and scaring people away because the bottom line IS what IS needed IS money.
