[Glenn Middle School Band Exceptional] For those following, you may know that I submitted a letter to the editor published in the Standard Times in late 2012 describing how incredible the Bobcat Band has become. They have not disappointed since that time. There is a new generation of kids that promise to boost the bands quality in the coming years. The Glenn Middle School Symphonic Band, consisting of mostly 7th and 8th grade kids, is truly remarkable. In listing to their performance Tuesday evening, it sounded more like listening to a high-shcool band. Mind you, these kids have half the training and experience. Their performance sounded like a movie track, with a dynamic range of intensity and volume stretching the limits, and in tune! In that I was once in the same two bands, I know the benchmarks of quality, and the Glenn Band is as best as Ive ever heard. Congratulations for a job well done. You all are well deserving of the Sweepstakes at UIL competition awarding the band all Division I ratings in all categories. -Paul Alexander
