God bless the RPD- A few words I must express , Today Officer Daryl Pierson was laid to rest. I could not attend the funeral because I had to work, But I did get to listen to the whole thing on the radio. First things first truly beautiful, A funeral fit for a hero and that is the undeniable truth. Listening to the many speakers definitely brought tears to my eyes. The words expressed by loved ones and public officials were so deep seated and really represented the way this man lived everyday. By listening I couldnt help but feel like I knew Officer Pierson personally. His wife Amy Pierson what a brave soul she is truly a tough and amazing person. Listening to her speak about the over whelming support from Daryls Brother and sister police officers. This community we live in truly has some wildly amazing people in it. The respect and support given by complete strangers is what drives me as a firefighter to do what I know is right. Its amazing how the Darkness of one soul can bring upon so much light from souls of everyone else, Almost like there never was a rainy night to begin with. Life is precious it can be taken away any moment of any day. Especially for the heroes that run deep into pits of hell again and again. The police officers, Firefighter, EMTs, Paramedics, and of course the American soldiers. I cant express my gratitude for all of these folks. I get to be lucky enough to work with and to be surrounded by these men and women everyday. Its amazing you know, Through my eyes they all should be wearing capes. But there not, there regular individuals doing a tough job and enjoying it. When one of these heroes falls I know time and time again this community Rochester, and the greater Monroe county area always comes together for these folks. I know if my time came they would be here for me and my family as well. Thats part of what drives us everyday those people. So in ending Officer Pierson, Amy, Your daughter Charity and your son Christian. Your family are all heroes in my mind I will never forget your husbands, fathers Sacrifice and I will use it to keep my eyes open to the dangers that may surround me and give me the strength and courage that I will need to perform my duties I just hope that I can be half the man you are when someone needs help and god willing I will make it home to my family but if I ever do not I will fall into a long line of heroes that stood before me and know that there are amazing people out there like yourselves that will get my family through to the end. God Bless Officer May you rest in so much Peace.
