God’s Care For His Family Casting all your care upon him, for He careth for you. 1 Peter 5:7 God’s family is a cared for family. Already in Paradise the Lord said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a help meet for him” Genesis 2:18. He made woman from a rib of Adam and brought her to Adam, and said that they shall be one flesh and be fruitful and multiply. We see that the father and mother were created to care for their children. With each family unit here on earth we see children, when they become of age, leave their parental home and begin their own family. This is God’s way of continuing the human race. However, man rebelled, disobeyed his creator, and is alienated from God his Father. But God from eternity past devised a way by the blood and death of His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to reconcile helpless and lost children, and make a way so that those chosen from each family, tribe, and nation in this world would be saved. We read from Romans 8:28, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” God’s family is a unique family. He says, “I will never leave thee nor forsake thee.” God’s family is multiplying day by day until the end of the world. Oh, to see this God as our father who will care for us through eternity. How can this be? God in Jeremiah 31:3 tells us, “Not for your sakes do I this, saith the Lord God, be it known unto you.” He says in Ezekiel 36:32, “I have loved thee with an everlasting love, therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.” His care for His children is so great that He sent His only begotten son into this world to pay the price that they never could have paid, and not only that, but He says, “I have come that ye might have life and have it more abundantly.” We see His care began before time, continues in time, and will continue after time has ceased, for from His side it is complete and cannot change! Sovereign, particular grace is the only answer to needy, lost, and ruined sinners! David in Psalm 23 sings of this tender care. “The Lord my Shepherd holds me within His tender care, And with His flock He folds me, no want shall find me there, in pastures green He feeds me, with plenty I am blest; by quiet streams He leads me, and makes me safely rest. Whatever ill betides me, He will restore and bless; for His name’s sake He guides me in paths of righteousness, Thy rod and staff shall cheer me in death’s dark vale and shade, for Thou wilt then be near me: I shall not be afraid. My food Thou dost appoint me, supplied before my foes; with oil Thou dost anoint me, my cup of bliss o’er-flows. Thy goodness, Lord, shall guide me, Thy mercy cheer my way; a home Thou wilt provide me within Thy house for aye”. (Psalter 55). This truly is love, “We love him because he first loved us.” When this becomes reality for me then I can cast all my cares upon Him, knowing He cares for me. Happy day when this “mortality shall put on immortality” and be with Him forever, singing and praising a triune Godendlessly. Is this your only hope?
