Gone way to soon - he will be missed by all who knew him - Be at rest now my friend Obituary for Mr. Michael Thomas "Doc" Lauer HIGH POINT- Michael Thomas “Doc” Lauer, 51, of Flower Mound, Texas, passed away Monday, September 16, 2013 at High Point Regional Hospital. He was the loving husband of Melinda Anne (Myers) Lauer to whom he was married to for 22 years. Mr. Lauer was born on May 5, 1962 in Raleigh, a son of Gertrude (Klein) Lauer and Tommie Lauer, both of High Point. He was a 1980 graduate of Ragsdale High School, and a 1984 graduate of the University of North Carolina Greensboro, where he earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biology and was a founding father of the UNCG chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. He furthered his education at Georgia Institute of Technology where he received a master’s degree in Environmental Nuclear Engineering. He was an active member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Coppell, Texas. Mr. Lauer enjoyed photography, camping, woodworking, and being a “gourmet chef” for his friends and family. Most of all he enjoyed traveling with his family, watching and attending baseball games and playing golf with his sons. He was extremely witty and was always ready to put others at ease with his sense of humor. In addition to his wife, Mr. Lauer is survived by two sons whom he loved dearly, Thomas Deane Lauer and Matthew Jac Lauer, both of Flower Mound, Texas; a brother, Tom Lauer and his wife, Jill of Greensboro; close friends, David and Cherie Ostermann, Ken and Paula Grumski, Shaun and Sarah McCabe, David and Debra Cronshaw, Jeff and Jennifer Turk, Michael and Michelle Kennedy, Beni Walker, Holmer Dugger, Pride Sasser, Mark and Vickie Kirshe, Bob Prince, Jeff Havlicak, Bill Dornsife and many more close friends. A celebration of life memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Cumby Family Funeral Service, 1015 Eastchester Drive, High Point, with Fr. Tom Norris O.F.S.F of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church officiating. A visitation will follow at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Michael’s memory to Thomas and Matthew’s Education Fund at Chase Bank, Attn: Marsha Crawford, 2051 Long Prarie Road, Flower Mound, TX, 75022.
