Good Morning Everyone, after being bombarded by Christmas commercials since Halloween. I thought it a little sad that Thanksgiving is being squeezed out by Halloween, Black Friday, and Christmas. So here’s a little poem to celebrate Thanksgiving and to return her to holiday status. I pray each of you have a blessed Thanksgiving Day filled with laughter, joy, and love. God Bless Poor Thanksgiving Once upon a time between Halloween and Christmas a holiday was there. Though today its true meaning seems forgotten and few people care. You see pilgrims, turkeys, and cranberry sauce are really out of touch. In a fast-paced modern world where giving thanks doesn’t mean much. Poor Thanksgiving she doesn’t make the cash registers ring. Nor does she have the sparkle that The Yule Tide Season brings. There is no hype or prestige for this once special day. That was set aside for a nation to give thanks and humbly pray. The advertising blitz has stolen this solemn holiday Replacing it with a profit scheme calling it Black Friday, Cutting Thanksgiving Day short for a shopping spree at the stores, Pushing and shoving with the masses to find the so-called bargains galore. Poor Thanksgiving a faded memory from our past. When families gathered around the kitchen table and life wasn’t so fast. Yes Black Friday has stolen Thanksgiving. Lord what are we to do. Praise the mighty dollar and give no praise to you. So just for old time sake let us make a pact. To revive our old friend Thanksgiving and bring her glory back, Let us take time as a family to have a traditional meal. Give thanks for all our blessings and forget about the shopping deals.
