Good Morning! Would like to take a moment, and thank all of the women who serve in the military, both here in Canada and overseas.Thank you for you service in keeping us safe. THIS is Deborah Kent-a LWLer who has served in the military for 32 years. She was released 31 Dec 2011 on a medical for both physical and mental reasons (hurt too many body parts to keep going). I think this woman is incredible and for that reason, she will be our second speaker at LADIES WHO LUNCH.Very honoured. Please show her your support by reading this post and by leaving a comment below~~~~~ Debs story is here: I have had the privilege of living and serving all over this wonderful country of Canada - as far East, West, North and South as you can go. I have served overseas in two countries where Canada as a nation of Peacemakers went in to help create a safe place where those who live there could choose for themselves the type of life they want to live and raise their families. I am a daughter, a mother, a wife, a friend, a student and an entrepreneur. I am what I need to be when I need to be it. I continue to serve my country just in a different way now. This year I had the honour of participating in the Battlefield Bike Ride in June where over 110 Canadians - some of us Wounded Warriors - bicycled from Juno Beach to Vimy Ridge in France. A journey of over 700 kms in 8 days , a journey that lead to much discovery. This ride was to raise money to help fund two initiatives that help members with PTSD - One is CanPraxis which is a horse therapy course a member takes with their significant other and the other is for training Service Dogs to work with members and help them to integrate back into society again. This past year has been a big year of healing for me with my mental health injury. I have come a long way and I know I have quite a ways to go still. I choose to take some time right now to look at what I have accomplished this year and then set some goals for the future. I have learned it is important to celebrate the victories as they happen. I have been given the honour being asked to speak at the Ladies Who Lunch event on the 12th of November. This is a gift for me as the ladies I have met at previous events are so welcoming and wonderful to be around. I look forward to sharing with them about some of my life in the military and how I consider it a gift both for me and others. Thank you. Debbie Kent
