Good afternoon, and a very wonderful Labor Day Monday to all of you. Ushering in round 40 of chemo today. Finally broke out of the 30s! I know - youre all jealous! ;) As far as chemos go, this regimen is easy besides normal and expected nuances that come along with any toxic drug aimed to destroy fast growing cells. One day at a time..... Thank you for the continued prayers and messages, even through my lack of postings. For the most part, we are getting by with the notion that I am doing well today, in this moment of time, and I outwardly look okay. My case is a confusing one, and it is one that confuses, frustrates, and aggravates all of my doctors. It truly is baffling why it is in my brain but nowhere else. Furthermore, every decision we make going forward has to be calculated with great attention to detail and carefully and meticulously gone over with a fine tooth comb. The underlying issue is why is my specific disease doing what it is doing? We will never know that answer, but we can guess. Its an educated guess with the brightest minds involved. With that said, it is known that I am not comfortable with doing Taxol as a single agent. Its efficacy across the blood-brain barrier is poor at best, and the brain is where the disease is. I have been petitioning to get a drug called Temodar added to my drug cocktail. Its never been tried as a combo with Taxol, but it seems my doctors are on board as long as I am monitored very closely for toxicity. Hopefully, we can get this added soon! My first follow-up MRI is in a week! Scared and nervous is an understatement. Please pray for great response to GammaKnife and NO new lesions.....we need a good scan. With all that said, weve made it to Landons first day of preschool. We made it! Tomorrow is the day, and emotions are soaring. I never thought I would be clawing, straining and fighting for my life just to see my young family grow, but it is what has been chosen for me, so fight we shall. One victory at a time, no matter how big or small, is our way of showing that cancer cannot win. Tomorrow is a very big victory!! Thank you for getting us this far! We love you all, so very much. Please continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers.
