Good morning OTF Nation ..... As some of you know, Ive been trying to play flag football on Weds nights. Its not a hardcore league, and there are no scouts watching a bunch of middle aged men reaching for the glory or their youths. However, Ive found myself wanting to throw touchdowns more now, when it means nothing, than when it was for a state championship many years ago. Last week our games were canceled because of rain... I even went to church Saturday night (Great Service Bayside Community Church) so that I could make our 9am practice.....rained out again. I woke up this morning and was not just disappointed, but pissed when I saw the rain....the first thing that popped in my head was how horrible it was that Im not going to get what I want... its going to be raining tonight, and my day is ruined.... After walking into Panera for my morning coffee, the lady I talk to every morning behind the counter, (member of HOPE Church) said Cash, this is the first time you have come in and not said hello to everyone with a big smile and dimples. Every time you leave we wonder how in the heck you always have so much energy..what happened? That made me snap back into reality, and I had to bring myself to a quick attitude adjustment....How in the heck did I let something so small like thinking there was a possibility of not playing Flag Football tonight tarnish my attitude about the whole day? Sometimes Im a complete knuckle head....so thankful its corrected now, so I didnt lose anymore mins of my day on foolishness. I let something that may or may not happen, and means absolutely nothing either way change my whole out look for the day....wow Dont let a few rainy mornings affect your perception, or your reality of the things in your lives. Without rain, we will not have life...I love Sarasota, I love the beautiful beach (though we never go), I love the green palm trees and lush vegetation....I love watching the 5 oclock storms roll onto the key. The lighting off the cost lights up the sky, and you can see the grey clouds of rain hitting the water 800 meters off the coast, while its completely dry where I stand. Enjoy your raining days, and feel blessed that we live in a place that people pay money to come visit. Just because its raining now, doesnt mean its a bad thing. The rain in our lives always brings life of new things, washes away the old dead things, and can focus your appreciation on the sunny days ahead. Dont let insignificant things like not playing a meaningless flag football game ruin your day or your positive drive for tomorrow.... Have a great day OFT nation and be well...
