Good morning Today is: World Math Day Educational games can add up to a lot of fun, as World Math Day goes to show. The annual event encourages thousands of students from around the world to take a break from standard math lessons. Instead, they take part in competitive math-themed games, with the chance to win certificates and prizes. The aim is to help raise standards of numeracy. Since it was founded in 2007 by the organization 3P Learning, World Math Day has seen its popularity multiply fast. It’s now part of the World Education Games, linking schools from many parts of the globe, and in 2010 the event established a world record for the largest-ever online math contest. Children as young as five can get involved, competing against others from abroad in real time. It is also possible to play via mobile phones so that even more youngsters can discover the number-themed activities.
