Got a new bubba? Know someone who does? Struggling with Work & Income? Its nowhere near good enough, and it shouldnt require being put in writing by the Ministry, but heres something for new mums dealing with Work & Income harassment and denial. This ministerial directive came in to effect on the 1st of July. It stipulates that mothers of babies under 12 months are going to have the fact that they have newborns considered when they are applying for advances/ grants and emergency assistance (eg. an emergency food grant). While this doesnt mean much, it does mean you can push harder and wave this piece of documentation around if being denied access to emergency entitlements.
