Great reflection for the 27th January: Shoah remembrance day, in commemoration of all the Jews killed under the Nazis because of their race and religion. During an encounter in Venezuela in 1975, a few weeks before his death. someone from the audience rose to ask Saint Josemaría Escriva (born in 1902) a question, and commenced, “Father, I am Jewish.” And before he continued, the Founder of Opus Dei replied: “I love the Jews with great affection, because I love Jesus madly, and He is Jewish. I do not say He was, but He is, for Jesus Christ is alive, and He is Jewish like you. And the second love of my life is also Jewish, the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Jesus Christ and our Mother too. And Saint Joseph, her husband most chaste, is Jewish too. You see, the three persons I love most are Jewish, like you! So I look on you and all Jews with special affection.” Similar words of affection were said a few months earlier by the same saint in Chile, to a girl belonging to a Jewish family but who wished to become a Catholic, (also available on you tube: https://youtube/watch?v=34vJiib7kzs) where the holy priest, with great love and tenderness, invited her to become a good daughter of Christ by being a good daughter of her parents.
