Greater Flamingo family traveling. After living in the Keys for nearly 40 years, and guiding flats fishermen for 38 years, flamingos for me are getting to be a very rare sight. Driving the Seven Mile Bridge heading south, I noticed large birds flying low ahead on the ocean side. As I passed them I realized what they were and broke the speed limit getting ahead so I could get some images when they came by. At Bahia Honda I was able to get a few shots as they continued to parts unknown. It is obviously two juvies with the parents. In the last 30 years or so these were the first wild birds I have seen, except for Bahamas and Ascension Bay, Yucatan, Mexico. Sadly the Ascension Bay birds have been heavily affected by recent hurricanes.
