Gregger Eveloff - touched by an angel On Saturday, Gregger, my friend since the early 80s, on vacation in Hawaii, went to the beach and then for a swim. Greg and I were together in Florence this past June. It was Piti Uomo menswear show. Greg was a retailer in Phoenix and owned the best shop in town, The Clotherie. We worked an appointment on June 10th and, afterwards, we were walking towards his hotel. Then we were off to dinner. On our walk, He reminded me of an evening in the early 80s, in Manhattan, when we watched a cat burglar walking and climbing easily on the window sills and columns of The Gilsey House, on 29th St and Broadway, in Manhattan, where I lived. Everyone witnessing the ease of the burglars moves was astounded, mouth open. the police were helpless. Light, quick, agile and sure footed. Greg has been a friend and client for more than 30 years. He was a mentch to say the least; in truth he was an angel. Gregs touch, his embrace, his ever ready smile and grace, left an indelible touch of a spirit hovering by rather than of a flesh and blood being barreling by. He footprint was like a breath of fresh, fragrant air. He was a class act from A to Z. It was as if this cat burglar we saw together more than 30 years ago walked on the water and stole Gregs soul and took it up to heaven on Gods breath. Gregs life was swept out of him as he swam his last swim on vacation in Hawaii. I weep with sorrow for loosing an angel for the pain Gregs loss will have on Mikki and their kids and grand kids. Miss you already Gregger. Rest in peace.
