HELP OK GOV MARY FALLIN -- STATE OF EMERGENCY COUNTIES Gov. Mary Fallin extended a state of emergency Monday to include 25 more Oklahoma counties that were affected by recent severe storms. The executive order now applies to the following 41 counties: Adair, Caddo, Canadian, Cherokee, Cleveland, Coal, Comanche, Craig, Creek, Delaware, Garfield, Garvin, Grady, Grant, Greer, Hughes, Kingfisher, Kiowa, LeFlore, Lincoln, Logan, Mayes, McClain, McCurtain, McIntosh, Muskogee, Nowata, Okfuskee, Oklahoma, Okmulgee, Osage, Ottawa, Pawnee, Payne, Pottawatomie, Pushmataha, Sequoyah, Stephens, Tulsa, Wagoner and Washington. Under the order, state agencies will be able to make emergency purchases and acquisitions to aid with the recovery efforts in counties that sustained wind, flooding, tornado and hail damage, officials said. It also is a first step toward seeking federal assistance for counties affected by severe weather since May 19, officials said. The executive order can be further amended to add additional counties if conditions warrant, officials said. Damage sustained from the tornadoes, straight-line winds, flooding, damaging hail and severe storms that began on May 29 is not included in the Presidential Disaster Declaration already in place from storms earlier in May. However, anyone affected by these latest storms may report their damage by calling FEMA at 800-621-3362, the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management reported. This will help ensure that all areas of damage from the latest round of storms are identified and documented and will help bolster the case for a new disaster declaration, the department said. When individuals and business owners provide details of severe storm damage to FEMA, that information will be recorded and stored where it will be easily available if a federal disaster is declared for the storms beginning May 29. Callers will receive a letter from FEMA within 10 business days verifying that their information has been processed.
