Www.harborguardboats PRESS RELEASE: Mayor Gilmore to Christen Alameda’s New Fire Boat On February 13, 2014, Mayor Marie Gilmore will christen the City of Alameda’s new fire boat. The boat was acquired with the aid of a Federal Port Security Grant. “Acquiring a fire boat has been a priority of the Alameda Fire Department’s Marine Operations Program,” said Fire Chief Mike D’Orazi. “We need the ability to protect and serve the critical waterfront infrastructure surrounding and adjacent to the island of Alameda.” The christening will take place: Thursday, February 13, 2014 10 A.M. Alameda Marina 1815 Clement Ave, Alameda, CA 94501 The christening will include Alameda City staff, public officials, and regional partners representing the Port of Oakland, US Coast Guard, US Navy, US Department of Transportation Maritime Administration, and the San Francisco Bay Area Search & Rescue Council, all of whom supported the Port Security Grant application and are instrumental in marine operations response and rescue training and drills.
