HOLD ON TO GODStella Dhinakaran He grants peace to your borders and satisfies you with the finest of wheat. (Psalm 147:14) The Book of Ruth is an important book in the Bible. In this we read about a Moabite woman called Ruth. She lost her husband within a few years after marriage. The family which she entered through marriage was a God-fearing family. When we see her mother-in-law Naomi, we find that she too was a woman who had lost her husband as well as both her dear sons. One of the sons was Ruth’s husband. Even amidst these losses, Naomi held on to God firmly. On one side, there were tears caused by the deep pain of loss! On the other side, there was peace because she trusted God and held on to Him. Ruth who saw the godly life of Naomi was amazed! She also placed her faith in the God of peace. She joined her mother-in-law, left all her old ways and followed her in worshipping God devotedly. Then the same divine peace and joy overflowed into her life. Though a Moabite woman, Ruth held on to the Lord because of which she received full reward according to the verse, May the Lord repay you for what you have done. May you be richly rewarded by the Lord, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge(Ruth 2:12). The peace in her enabled her to love her mother-in-law as her own mother and walk in obedience to her. As a result, she got a full reward as seen in the above verse. She was blessed to become the wife of a very rich man. She received the gift of a child and enjoyed her family life. Above all, her name was found in the lineage of men of God like Abraham – David (Matthew 1:5). What a privilege! Dearly beloved, keep your trust on the Lord like Ruth and hold on to Him firmly. Hide under the wings of the Most High. As you keep looking upon His face, all the darkness in your life will disappear and there shall be brightness (II Corinthians 4:4,6). The Bible says, “He grants peace to your borders and satisfies you with the finest of wheat” (Psalm 147:14). When you trust in God wholeheartedly, He will surround you with His incomparable peace and supply all your needs from His abundant provision. Prayer: Loving Lord Jesus I come to You seeking refuge under the shadow of Your wings. I trust in You and firmly cling on to You. Lord, richly reward my faith. Turn my sorrow into joy and tears into happiness. Let all the darkness in my life disappear and let Your light shine upon my life. May Your divine peace overflow into my life. In Your matchless name I pray, Amen.
