***HOT app of the day*** (2.99) Astropolo is one of the most creative and unique apps I have seen in a while. The gameplay is about learning how to discriminate sensory input, attend and modulate responses. As an OT, I cant ask for more. The premise of the game is to help an astronaut reach the planet Tropy by completing 8 missions that involve coordinating perceiving, reacting, and moving through space. After creating your rocket, send it off into space with a voice activated lift off...too soft a voice and you cant achieve lift off; help a poor alien go to sleep with just the right voice for a lullaby; tap rhythms for a dance and draw hearts to soothe a cranky alien to name some of the activities. Coordinating vision and auditory input with a motor act can help kids feel more confident about interacting in the world...and that leads to self initiation and competency.
