******************Happy Birthday- Carlo Ancelotti and David Platt******************** Carlo Ancelotti (Italian pronunciation: [ˈkarlo antʃeˈlɔtti]; born 10 June 1959) is an Italian football manager and former player who currently manages Spanish La Liga side Real Madrid. Nicknamed Carletto, Ancelotti played as a midfielder and had a successful career with Roma – captaining the team – with whom he won one Scudetto and four Coppa Italia honours and was part of the legendary late 1980s Milan team with which he won two Scudetti and two European Cups in a five-year period. He was capped 26 times and scored one goal for the Italian national team and appeared in the 1990 World Cup. After spells as manager of Reggiana, Parma and Juventus, Ancelotti was appointed Milan manager in 2001. He won the Scudetto in 2004, the Champions League in 2003 and 2007 and the Coppa Italia in 2003. They were also Serie A and Champions League runner-ups in 2005. He is one of six men to have won the European Cup/Champions League as player and manager. In May 2009, he was appointed Chelsea manager and in his first season led them to a historic Premier League and FA Cup Double. He became only the second non-British manager to win the double, the other being Arsène Wenger. After an uneven 2010–11 Premier League season in which Chelsea failed to retain the title, Ancelotti was dismissed as their manager in May 2011. On 30 December 2011, Ancelotti signed a contract with ambitious French side Paris Saint-Germain. In his first full season with the club, Ancelotti managed them to the Ligue 1 title and the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League.[1] On 25 June 2013, Real Madrid announced the signing of Carlo Ancelotti as their new manager on a three-year deal. He was presented to the fans the following day. Ancelotti won the UEFA Champions League with Real Madrid in 2014, the clubs tenth title in the competition, becoming one of only five men to have won a European Cup with two different clubs and joined Bob Paisley as the only two men to have won three European Cups as a manager. ************************************************************************************************* David Andrew Platt (born 10 June 1966) is an English former footballer who played at both professional and international levels as a midfielder. Most recently he was Assistant Manager at Manchester City until his resignation on 14 May 2013. Born in Chadderton, Lancashire, Platt began his career as an apprentice at Manchester United but later moved to Crewe Alexandra where he began building a reputation as a goal scoring midfield player. In 1988, aged 22, he signed for Aston Villa and in 1989 he gained the attention of Sir Bobby Robson, the then England manager and made his debut. At the 1990 FIFA World Cup, Platt increased his continental reputation by scoring goals with both head and feet, whilst displaying passing abilities and high work rates. His performances in Italy earned him a move to Bari in 1991. In 1992, Platt moved to Juventus, where he spent one season. Platt continued scoring goals for England, playing in Euro 92 and 96. Despite his efforts, England failed to qualify for the 1994 FIFA World Cup. In 1993, he moved to Sampdoria where he stayed for two seasons before returning to England with Arsenal, taking the total amount of money spent on his transfer fees to £20 million.[3] Platt played with the London club for three years and was part of the 1998 Arsenal team that won the Premier League and FA Cup Double; before his retirement in 1998. Platt also served as manager of Sampdoria before leaving his post owing to poor results. Afterwards, he returned to England as player-manager of Nottingham Forest. Platt also managed the England Under-21 team.
