Happy Birthday to Jacob Thomas, my partner in crime when we were kids. He used to rock a mullet...now he rocks a white coat--What more success could you ask for in life? Most kids your age are still frantically searching for what they want to do with their lives...congratulations on finding your career path so early in life! BUT thats only one piece of the puzzle. So here is my list of tips for surviving your early 20s: 1. Enjoy the next couple years, because 25 hits hard and feels more like 45 some days. All-nighters (or even just staying up past midnight) are no longer an option. 2. Stay close with your siblings- A study at Harvard University found that people who remain close to their siblings are much happier later in life. Thats science, guy. 3. Dating in your early 20s is usually a big waste of precious time (not true for everyone! please, no attacks from those that married young) 4. Parents say nothing good happens after midnight...thats not true, because waffle house usually happens after midnight. Its post 3 AM that you need to watch out for. 5. Always make time for your close friends-theyre hard to come by as you age! 6. If you ever choose to be permanently inked, be smart like me and put it somewhere thats inconspicuous. I have too many friends that have to cover the ever popular wrist tat from conservative family members and during interviews. Oh, and getting a male tramp stamp is the only thing you could do in life that would make me disown you. 7. Learn to golf and to play tennis. Being able to play rich people sports is an important life skill. 8. Floss your teeth once a day. Dont be that guy that doesnt floss...hes gross. 9. Take up yoga. This one has no value other than I think it would be hilarious to watch you chaturanga. 10. Dita von Teese said You can be the ripest, juiciest peach in the world, but there will always be someone who hates peaches. And Bill Cosby said I dont know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everyone. Both are very true..youre never going to please everyone around you so just do what makes you happy and people can take it or leave it. I was only going to give you one funny piece of life advice, but this turned into a fantastic list! Im sure everyone will be inquiring about where your sister gleaned all of this fantastic life wisdom. :) happy birthday!
