Have you ever been scared for your life? I have never fought in - TopicsExpress

Have you ever been scared for your life? I have never fought in battle or even been close to fighting for my life, but I have been scared for my life before. How about you? I can recall several times in my life when I was alone and feared that someone or something was going to come into my room and do me harm. I remember being in the dark with my heart beating so hard and loud that it felt as if it would burst. You hear even the smallest of sounds your senses are amplified. I never felt more alive, aware, and terrified. I can only imagine how a solider feels just before he is about to leave the comfort of his fox hole or hiding place to openly attack his enemy. Think about the men that fought in WW1. They stood in those trenches waiting on a whistle to blow so they could climb the wall and face the enemy. They could stay in the pit in fear, but they had the courage to know they had to get out of there to stop the enemy and that God was control of their destiny from there on. How does anyone cope with the fear that they may be about to die? The fear is not for the pain that they might suffer, but for the loss of loved ones. Never being able to see your children grow up, not being there the day they are married, never being able to say goodbye. So where do you turn? How do you get over “our” fear? Luke 10:17-19 17 And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name. 18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. 19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. I don’t know about you, but I turn straight to God during these times. I claim the promise in Luke 10:19 and tell Satan to leave me and I ask God to fill me with His power. The only thing we should fear as a child of God is God and nothing else. If we show fear to others in the face of our enemies or behind a door in the dark, we are telling the entire world and Satan that God is not enough. He does not have the power to conquer our fear and we do not believe he is all powerful. I know fear is real, I know fear can cause us to not stand up to Satan. Satan also knows this, he knows it is of “our flesh” and not of God and he uses “our flesh” to keep from glorifying God. Lose your fear and take hold of God’s promise to “give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”
