Hayao Miyazaki receives honorary Oscar for his 6 decades of film-making: Internationally acclaimed Japanese film director, animator, manga artist, illustrator, producer, screenwriter, and co-founder of Studio Ghibli Hayao Miyazaki honored with Oscar and considered as one of the most influential animators in cinema. His most famous work and highest grossing film is Spirited Away. Though other works and collaborations include: Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro, My Neighbor Totoro, Porco Rosso, Nausicaa Valley of the Wind, Castle in the Sky, Princess Mononoke, Ponyo, Howls Moving Castle, Kikis Delivery Service and his most recent, the Wind Rises. He is the 4th animator to ever receive such a prestigious award after Walt Disney, Walter Lantz, and Chuck Jones. Despite retiring from feature films, he is going to continue working on manga, short films, and other media. He claims, I will continue making anime until I die. I feel like the speech that was given by John Lasseter about him is one of the most heartfelt and informative speeches Ive ever seen given. This is the way you honor someone despite the fact that they arent from this country and really show the audience how much he has done and how much he deserves this. Video in the link is John Lasseters speech before Miyazaki recieved the award. And for the video of him accepting the award please go here: https://youtube/watch?v=9ZIG14mxB9w#t=77
