Hello Facebook friends. I am preparing to go on vacation to St. Somewhere next week. I am going to a place where I have no need for political or social arguments. No need to worry about the evils of capitalism or socialism, the relative merits of the democraps, repugnicans, or even the Libertards. No need to fret over how many people got shot this weekend in Indianapolis, no concern over whether Monsanto is killing me or helping feed the world. No militant Atheists, no crazy holy rollers. If the Russians invade Ukraine, or the Israelis blow up everything in Gaza, it doesnt matter to me. I certainly wont concern myself with whether Bush or Obama are the worst president ever. No newspapers, no radio, no TV to bring the worlds woes to my attention. I am going to mentally detoxify myself from all of the turmoil. Im sure Ill miss some wonderful music or art events, but I will replace those with pools, beaches, boats, seaside dining and the enjoyment of my loved ones. Tomorrow I will be suspending my Facebook account (at least for a couple of weeks) so that I am NOT tempted to see what I am missing, as I really wont miss anything. It will ALL still be here when I return. Ive often thought that perhaps ignorance IS bliss, and for the next 2 weeks I am going to be as ignorant of the happenings in the world as I can possibly be.
