Hello all, I hope that you are all having a productive beginning - TopicsExpress

Hello all, I hope that you are all having a productive beginning to 2015. I am reaching out to you on behalf of my good friend and collaborator Roger Gastman who is currently working on a documentary project about 9:30 Club. Of particular interest to him is documenting the hip-hop shows by local and national artists that took place at the F Street location in the early 1990s. These events are among the hardest to find documentation of as 9:30 was not primarily known as a venue for hip-hop music. However, I am hoping that you may have in your collection fliers, photos, and other ephemera that can help tell not only this lost chapter in 9:30 history, but also to tell the story of our local scene of which you all have been such an important part of. Roger Gastman has been an important and caring agent for our community, contributing detailed historic projects such as Free Agents: A History of Washington DC Graffiti, Pump Me Up: DC Sub-Cultures of the 1980s and the documentary film The Legend of Cool Disco Dan. I hope you can take some time to revisit your archives and see if you have any material that can help bring this chapter to life. No piece is too small or irrelevant! All content submitted will be carefully archived and returned to the submitter and contributor credit on the project for any material used will be provided. Please respond back at your earliest possible convenience and feel free to forward this call for submissions to anyone you feel may be of assistance to the project. All the best, cory202@gmail Cory Stowers
