Hello my beautiful people. I havent given a Let me tell you - TopicsExpress

Hello my beautiful people. I havent given a Let me tell you something speech in sometime. Of course Ive been a bit quite as the spring summer months are very busy for me. However, I wanted to take a moment and address the Podcast deejays with controllers that fine me rude and negative. Lets get this straight one, I live a very private life and only have a few people in my circle. I dont care for negative people. I dont care for people looking for a handout, and I most certainly dont like a lot of deejays and producers today that call me a B word because of my opinion. Im not in the industry to make friends by loving mixes that sound like horses and trains are crashing at the same time. Those that call me names after I voice my opinion need a class in music theory. The class will teach that person ear training. If you cant afford the class get some thick skin, listen to what others tell you or give your mixes to a few people that you trust will be honest. Everyone isnt honest or need music theory class as well. Another thing that bothers me is that deejays that has a controller, a free Podcast page with ten fans while giving away artists music. Im not speaking of the deejays that serve a purpose like introducing fans to new music which the fans will purchase the music. Im not speaking of the radio deejays. Im speaking of the deejays of today that dont have a clue about putting in the work. These are the people with nerve and altitude. I have everyone know, I really could care less how one feels in what I say. Leave my page and continue doing things your way. However, if you stay we can learn things together. Please stop sending me your mixes/tracks if you dont want honest opinion. I really dont have time to listen to all the mixes sent. Also, stop forcing me to your radio shows. I have people that send me their show information in my in box. That same person will post on my wall five minutes later. I have no tolerance for those people that think my tweaked Facebook page we share. I usually out that person by telling them to remove the link from my wall, then I delete and block. There are some people that ask my permission to post. Which is OK. Also, I have no problem posting other artist or videos. However, many of you must learn , everyone doesnt like your work other than yourself. So know, I dont care for old school before posting an old school mix on my wall. Learn some manners. People, I come from an era where there was a handful of female deejays. It was extremely difficult for a female deejay and it was extremely difficult to enter the scene as a new deejay male or female. There wasnt anyone telling me anything about the business. My mom was an entertainer and I picked things up from her. I played in my moms friend bar and couldnt even mix records. But I was a very good programmer. I played songs like Shame, Boogie Oogie Oogie you get my point. However, I was in an era where every deejay on the streets were GOOD. We had no time to mistakes or we would have lost our crowd to other deejays and their clubs. Our GODFATHER OF HOUSE in Detroit Ken Collier and deejay Melvin Hill were the best and those guys I watched and studied. I learned from the great Ken Collier how important programming and selection of music was. Unlike today where some deejays are free downloading. I brought Imports at $9.99 to $15 a pop to sound different. I had a sound people were familiar with. Unlike today when you download free songs you dont have a style. Your all over the place. I learned from both Ken and Melvin the importance of a great sound system. I studied and practiced several times a week to learn where breaks were in songs, as I never wanted to be unprepared and still today Im very flawless in mixing. People told me what I couldnt do in the industry. I remember my record pool director told me to back in the day ... she didnt think I would become a BILLBOARD DJ. However, she helped others in the record pool. She never really said why. After I did a little looking around, I noticed most of the reporters were white and circuit deejays. So, I personality called Ricardo (Dance Billboard chart manager) and he told me what to submit. The next year I went to a BILLBOARD conference in NYC to personally meet Ricardo. In September of that same year I was called to join the panel. I recall going to Walt Disney to auditions for Mannequin. The first time I went was a disaster. I wasnt dress properly (I wore a suit). I wasnt prepared in having 10 people on the side of me looking at my mannerism , how I read script, my mixing ability. Just let me say it wasnt a good day. Instead of tripping on Disney,I learned that even though I had a pack nightclub resident in Detroit, I still had work to do. I went back to Disney three years later and was hired for the under study deejay position and was later offered a one- year contract to play as resident. So my point here people, new generation of deejays today. When you ask for opinion from those that have worked and continue to put in the work. Listen!!! If you dont agree keep things moving. But NEVER insult those that have put in the work. Some deejays want to be podcast DJs, club DJs (which require you to also be a promoter today), some deejays festival deejays, radio deejays, overseas deejays. Whatever you decide to become study, put the work in and you must have thick skin. I have been very disappointed in the HOUSE community for some years. Everyone wants to complain about what isnt... however, whos putting the work in. I get sometimes 100 promos a week. Im lucky to get two, three songs out of the 100. Many of you dont have people to look up too in your community. Began watching You Tube videos of different deejays. Learn how to program correctly, learn how to work a floor, learn different mixing skills. We were able to visit the clubs of different deejays to get the experience. So you should, check out other deejays via videos and podcast. DJs if you really want honest opinion ask other people in the industry. Your friends most of the time are being nice!!! But dont go posting your Dear Jane letter on Facebook after I give you information that can help more so than do harm. Lastly, while we go through unnecessary drama in the Soulful&Deep House community. Study the EDM,& SA dance community. :-) These people put the work in and pockets are loaded. And BTW..even thought I have tons of online followers and people that attend my live events. I will always have those that dont like what I do. However, I know I do my very best in perfecting my skills still today. PUT THE WORK IN!!! Stop blaming others for what you fail to do.
