Help a Mom Out: She writes: I am a single parent My 8y/o is adopted from foster care. She and her younger brother have been with me a little over two years. She is diagnosed with PTSD and possibly RAD. She is better than when she first came to me but she has HORRIBLE hours long tantrums. Last night she threw a fit about pizza and I told her the consequence for her inappropriate behavior was no pizza. I gave her an alternative choice for dinner. She refused the alternative and ended up screaming for pizza for over two hours. I try not to respond to her tantrums but I have to admit I lost it. Does anyone have any ideas on how to deal with hours of screaming? She is in therapy but it seems to make things worse because she gets triggered and the behavior gets so much worse. Help!!!
