Here I am picking up a coffee and come across this... Costa - TopicsExpress

Here I am picking up a coffee and come across this... Costa are promoting this whole grain porridge as a healthy breakfast option. Indeed, its probably a lot healthier than opting for one of their cakes, as youll avoid the extra calories and fat. But, marketing this pot of porridge as healthy is completely misleading to customers. Its obvious who the campaign is targeted at.. People who like to eat clean, healthy, good nutritious food, right? However what they forget to mention or label is this.. It contains gluten, added refined sugar, and skimmed milk (which contains a whole lot more sugar milk than full fat as they replace the fat with more sugar). Theres in fact nearly 17g of refined sugar in this one pot, which is the equivalent to nearly 5 teaspoons of granulated sugar. Thats a lot for one little pot. And thats without adding in your milk and extras 🙈 It has been scientifically proven that an excessive amount of refined sugar causes fat gain (of course calories come into play too). In order to see sufficient fatloss, and maintain it, you need to control your sugar intake. Ingesting a high amount of refined sugar regularly will send your blood sugars bananas, spiking insulin levels, causing energy crashes throughout the day and tickling your taste buds for more sugar. Its a cycle! So ideally you want to regulate this hormone as much as you can! Im not tearing costa apart here, at least theyre providing a better option (or so they think) in their cafés. Im merely suggesting that you always read the labelling on foods before you buy it. Dont be mislead or fooled by posters and marketing tools.
