Here is an update on a situation many may have heard about earlier in the year............. In late February the PASPCA participated in the rescue of 28 German Shepherds and Shepherd mixes from the Sixth Angel Animal Rescue in Marcus Hook, Delaware County. According to press release from SPCA Terry Silva, the owner of the rescue, was found guilty of all 43 counts of animal cruelty in district Court. In addition to finding Silva guilty, Judge David R. Griffin also fined her $5,900 plus court costs for keeping the animals in unsanitary conditions and lack of veterinary care Instead of providing care for animals in need, the environment became a living nightmare for the dogs. The dogs were kept in closets and crates, and the stench of built-up waste was overwhelming. The best news of all: Except for one dog who was so frail and unable to walk that it had to be humanely euthanized, all of the dogs were adopted into new homes or transferred to rescues where they were rehabilitated and re-homed.
