Here is my friend ( Scotty Anderson ) playing Are You From Dixie? on a Yamaha guitar. Scotty is also one of my guitar mentors and he also taught me a lot of his guitar technique. When Scotty plays 3 ascending notes on one string the right hand picking pattern is ( MIP ) middle, index, thumb. When Scotty plays 3 descending notes on one string the right hand picking pattern is ( PMI ) thumb. middle, index. By using these right hand picking patterns it will enable you to play very fast lines on the guitar like ( Scotty Anderson ) plays. When I had a chance to play guitar for ( Chet Atkins ) at his office in Nashville, TN on ( May 29, 1990 ) Chet said I sounded like ( Scotty Anderson ) and then I told Chet that ( Scotty Anderson ) was my mentor on guitar!
