Here is something I do not understand. In todays age, how is it that a Police Officer feels threatened by the presence of a camera? News crews and civilians alike have video recording devices on their person 24x7. Yet Police officers by the hundreds are caught screaming shut that off. Where in any law book does it say that it is lawful for them to tell anyone this. These recording devices also capture the good or humanity of what they are doing. In cases like this they gratefully accept the camera. It is when they are being abusive that they dont want to get caught. One thing they need to remember is that their dash cams are now subject to public scrutiny. They seem to have forgotten that they are servants of the people. We the people deserve to be treated with respect and dignity when we interact with them. Being told to shut up when we are trying to provide information that is legally required of us is neither helpful nor conducive to good police work. I watch hour after hour of these videos (both good and bad) that show up on YouTube, and I am constantly amazed by the amounts of poorly trained or properly acting police officers that are shown. Our society has become uber-tollerant of these actions. Often I have contacted the authorities of the represented departments just to be told it was the officers right to act the way he did. Tasing an unarmed 8 month pregnant woman is a right? She was trying to talk calmly to the officer and then wham HE is yelling and screaming and drawing his defensive weapon. How about an officer telling you to shut up repeatedly whilst you are trying to inform them you were carrying a weapon. Then said officer on dash cam is heard telling you that he should pump 10 rounds into you... and he wont lose a moments sleep over it. There is a serious need for psychological evaluation here folks. Yes the Officer is in charge of the situation but he needs to handle it correctly and respect our rights also. Rant over!
